The mystery of what led the OpenAI board to take the precipitous step of firing CEO Sam Altman may now have been solved. A new report says a number of researchers warned them of a new breakthrough which they said could threaten humanity – after Altman seemingly failed to inform them.

In a letter to the board, the researchers suggested that the breakthrough – dubbed Q* and pronounced Q-Star – could let AI “surpass humans in most economically valuable tasks” …

Jony Ive became famous for his role as chief design officer at Apple, as he was responsible for many important projects at the company. According to a new report, Ive is now discussing the project of a new “AI hardware” with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

Microsoft has announced the next step it’s taking to evolve its productivity software soon with OpenAI’s latest artificial intelligence tech, GPT-4. The well-known Office apps will be updated with what the company is calling “Copilot” to help with tasks like writing entire documents, summarizing meetings, finding milestones for a project, analyzing strategy risk, and much more.

DuckDuckGo is out today with an update that brings a beta of a new feature called DuckAssist. The approach to AI is different from what we’ve seen from OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s broad focus. DuckAssist was designed with the goal of offering “more directly responsive” answers to questions summarized from Wikipedia and similar sources.
